Developed by ISB Vietnam Company (IVC), StarPrint comes with capability to print simply and directly from Android mobile devices to printers. Open Embedded Software Foundation (“OESF”), aiming to promote embedded system based on Android™ by development and training of engineers, has released the English version of “Authorized Certification Engineer for Android™” (“ACE”) in April 2012. ACE is now available to be taken through US Prometric (“Prometric”) systems in over 160 countries. ACE, an objective test to measure engineers’ Android™ development skills, provides worldwide standard for Android™ Engineers and companies. “There has been great response from all over the world!” exclaims Masataka Miura, the Chairman/CEO of OESF. “It seems as though engineers everywhere has been waiting for this test. ACE (See Logo in Figure 1) started in Japan only recently but it is already a famous and widely supported test here in Japan. As soon as the English version was released, engineers from many countries have taken the test without hesitation, eager to prove that his/her Android™ knowledge is world-class. Android™ Engineers, corporations involved in developing Android™, and even local governments and associations, highly evaluate ACE as an objective indicator of Android™ development skills. Commenting on the ACE test in Japan, OESF Education Working Group Coordinator, Shuichi Mitsuoka said “I have been approached by foreign leading companies requesting to be introduced to Android™ Engineers certified by ACE. When I explained that ACE could only be taken in Japan (at that time), they insisted that we hurry to have it be taken world-widely”. It seems those have gotten their wish. Android™ Engineers in English speaking countries are now able to take ACE through the English version of “Android™ Application Engineer Certifications Basic” (Test Code: OA0-002). Application to take ACE is made through the Prometric website and Android™ Engineers can take the test at local test sites in more than 160 countries (Figure 2). Additionally, the Chinese version (both simplified and traditional) of ACE is currently being prepared and is planned to be delivered through the Prometric system in July 2012, same as the English version. China and Taiwan, where some of the major manufacturing sites of Android™ devices are located, will obviously have a definite demand for an international test to determine the skills and technical knowledge of Android™ Engineers. OESF has commented that they are confident that ACE will improve Android™ development skills, prompting the advancement of the entire Android™ market. Masataka Miura echoed these statements: “With ACE in Japanese, English, and Chinese, Android™ Engineers will be able to market their abilities to global companies, ensuring Android™ Engineers a new era with business opportunities more than ever imagined. Companies will be able to select their engineers to employ since ACE will have already internationally certified skills of such engineers and companies can also train and encourage engineers those already employed. ACE will certainly change everything.” OESF has announced that it will continue to provide new tests such as platform development, determined to always answer to the needs of Android™ markets and Android™ Engineers.
